What is Coworking Canada?

Coworking Canada is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting local coworking operators and the larger coworking movement. Founded by Ashley Proctor in 2012, it provides programming, resources and support for all collaborative organizations and cooperative communities.

For the last ten years, the Coworking Canada team has gathered peers, partners, and community organizers to celebrate coworking at the annual Coworking Canada Unconference.

This year, the three-day in-person gathering takes place on October 7th, 8th, and 9th in Vancouver, BC, with a one-day online event for those who can’t make it in-person taking place on October 30th.

What can I expect at the in-person Coworking Canada Unconference on October 7, 8, and 9th?

The Coworking Canada Unconference is designed to educate, empower, and inspire community leaders around the world. This year the theme is “The Power of Collaboration: Building Thriving and Impactful Coworking Communities”, with keynote speakers and workshops focused on how to foster collaboration and community.

The lineup of speakers includes some heavy hitters in the coworking and collaborative work industry including:

  • Tony Bacigalupo, founder of New Work Cities and the father of coworking in New York
  • Tessa McLoughlin, founder of KWENCH, an incredible coworking community located in Victoria, BC
  • Iris Kavanagh, founder of Women Who Cowork and a globally recognized leader and speaker in coworking since 2008

There are also many other powerful, diverse voices who will be sharing their unique ideas and perspectives on the future of coworking.

Along with some incredible speakers, there will be an opportunity for interactive workshops on day two, as well as tours of local coworking spaces in and around the Vancouver area on day three. You can check out the full agenda here.

Where can I find the Optix team?

This year, we’re excited to share that two members of the Optix team will be taking the stage to share their knowledge and expertise on the world of coworking and community.

Kia Rahmani, Optix Founder and CEO will be sharing his vision for the future in an interactive panel discussion on day one. With 15 years in the coworking industry, he has a unique perspective to share on the future of collaborative work.

Jenna Macken, Customer Success Team Lead will be leading a workspace operations workshop on day two. She’s helped 100+ coworking operators successfully launch technology in their coworking spaces!

The Optix team will also be hosting a happy hour at CRAFT brewing on the evening of the first day — we’d love for you to join us!
